Understanding the dynamics of reconnection jet in the near-Earth
magnetotail requires the effects of the Bz component to be included
appropriately. In this study,we have conducted three-dimensional
hybrid simulations of magnetic reconnection in a two-dimensional
magnetotail-like equilibria.
Our focus here is on the effects of the width of X-line (Ry),which
is controlled by the dawn-dusk extent of the anomalous resistive
region in our simulations. We find the shape of the earthward
reconnection jets to change according to Ry.
A sequence of field-aligned current patterns on the cross-tail
section plane at the earthward end of the simulation box is presented
and its implication to substorm observations is discussed.
